Background information • Crisis Loans and Community Care Grants were administered by DWP and provided support to people in financial crisis • From April 2013 the responsibility transferred to Local Authorities • The funding level reduced by 50% to £25k in Rutland • The Council attended parish forum last January 2013 to let you know about this and to ask for parish and town council support
The local scheme • Aim is to support Rutland residents who are experiencing financial crisis and would suffer extreme hardship or danger to their health if support were not given • For example: • No money to buy food or fuel for heating and cooking • Fleeing domestic violence and needs household items i.e. fridge • To date £9.8k has been spent on awards
Applications by Ward-Towns 8 applications have been received from people of no fixed abode
Awards from April to December 2013 • The following awards have been made: • 30 food bank vouchers (operating since • 28 fuel vouchers for £49 - provided by Department of Energy • £3.2k Vouchers for food • £3.9k white goods/furniture • £2.7k cash awards for food/fuel/transport Overall the average award is £80.00
