Dr. Allemander J. Pereira Filho presents the evolution of aircraft noise and the areas affected by different generations of aircraft. The results of a global assessment for noise scenarios with more stringent options are discussed, highlighting the benefits in terms of net person-years. The trade-off between noise reduction and capacity constraint is analyzed, leading to recommendations for an increase in stringency of 10 EPNdB in Annex 16, Volume I.
