Course content Changing Life in Scotland and Britain 1830-1930 You will study how people’s lives changed over 100 years. The following topics will be studied – • Population change • Changes on the farms • Railways • Coal mining • Health and housing • People and the vote.
International Conflict and Cooperation 1890s – 1920’s World war one was the most destructive war in history. You will study the following – • Causes of world War One • Experience ofwarfare • Effects of war on civilians • Making the Peace
Russia in Revolution Russia in 1900 was the largest country in the world and during the first part of the 20th century underwent war, revolution and political change. You will study discontent under the Russian leader, war and revolution and Russia under Communism.
Coursework Pupils will study a variety of content and gather information from texts, dvd’s, internet and powerpoints. Discussion and forming opinions are also an important part of the course. The Standard Grade course runs over 2 sessions. In S5 and S6 pupils can study Intermediate, Higher and Advanced Higher History.
