Aims of the Meeting • Provide information about the arrangements for preparing children for the SATs and the transition to secondary school. • Outline the in school support your children are receiving in preparation. • Offer parents advice on how to support their children in the weeks leading up to the tests and the deadline for teacher assessment.
What is going well for your children • Children enjoy learning, they are ready to learn and resilient to challenging tasks. • Children are well behaved and follow the school behaviour expectations and KM code. • Learning opportunities provide time for practice activities, revision and consolidation as well as new learning. • Learning is pitched at the Y6 standard and national curriculum expectations. • Interventions and booster clubs support and target learners who need extra support and guidance.
Attendance Headlines 04/09/17 from 27/02/18
Home Learning • Home Learning is set on a Thursday and should be returned on a Monday. • Activities consolidate the learning taking place in class, practice activities and SATs style questions. • Provides preparation for secondary school and working within a set timeframe/deadline.
The Tests • Key Stage 2 SATs take place nationally in the week commencing Monday 14th May 2018. • Writing is based on teacher assessment.

How to Help Your Child • First and foremost, support and reassure your child that there is nothing to worry about and they should always just try their best. Praise and encourage! • Ensure your child has the best possible attendance at school-now as well as during SATs week. • Make sure your child has a good sleep and healthy breakfast every morning! • Support your child with any homework tasks. Preparation for Secondary School • We work in partnership with secondary schools to ensure all important details are passed on to your child’s new school. • Visits with our link secondary school take place so children experience a secondary school in action. • Summer term-learning takes place around changes and expectations for secondary school.
