Inattentional Blindness • Inattentional blindness is the failure to notice a fully-visible, but unexpected object because attention was engaged on another task, event, or object.

Selective Attention and Change Blindness • Selective attention is purposely focusing your conscious awareness onto a specific stimulus. This means that if you are in a noisy place with lots of people and you purposely pay attention to the person you are speaking with, you are engaging in selective attention.

Subliminal • Subliminal: As humans, we have great abilities to perceive things (e.g., to see things happening far away, to hear sounds at a distance, etc.). However, we also have limitations. For example, eagles can see much, much better than humans. When we are presented with some information that is just below our conscious awareness but still reaches our brains, it is a subliminal message - meaning, the information is getting into our systems and to our brains without us truly being aware of it. • You may be familiar with the idea of subliminal messages is advertising in which a message is flashed so quickly that we don't "think" we saw it (containing the message the advertiser wants us to get) but our brains actually processed it. The idea being that we will still respond to that message even though we didn't realize we saw it.
ESP- Extrasensory Perception • Extra-sensory perception, or ESP, is the supposed ability to acquire information by some means other than the normal human senses, such as the traditional five senses of taste, sight, touch, smell, and hearing.
Parapsychology • The study of the ability of the mind to perform psychic acts. • Psychic phenomena, as the term is applied to the human mind, generally fall into two broad categories: extrasensory perception (ESP) and psychokinesis(PK), or PSI, as both are collectively known. • Parapsychology is an outgrowth of the spiritualism movement in the ]ate 1800s in Great Britain and the United States, both sought to establish whether mediums who conducted spiritualistic séances actually contacted the dead or were merely fakes.
Types of ESP • Types of ESP are grouped in four main categories: • Telepathy: mind-to-mind communication • Clairvoyance: the awareness of remote objects, persons, or events • Precognition: the knowledge of events lying in the future • Retrocognition: the knowledge of past events in the absence of access to information about those events
