  6. Trapezius • Used for a variety of purposes - depending on other muscles • elevate clavicle, extend head and neck, or move scapula • Attachments • occipital bone, • spinal processes of thoracic vertebrae • clavicle • scapula (acromion, & spine)

  7. Clavotrapezius • Region of cat trapezius • found in along the neck in cervical region

  8. Spinotrapezius • Region of cat trapezius • Found in the inferior most regions of trapezius

  9. Acromiotrapezius • Region of cat trapezius • Found in between the clavotrapezius and spinotrapezius

  13. Teres major • Synergist for latissimus dorsi • Attachments • scapula • intertubercular groove of humerus From: http://www.bio.psu.edu/people/faculty/strauss/anatomy/musc/chestdeep.htm

  14. Teres minor • Synergist for latissimus dorsi • Attachments • Scapula • Greater tubercle of humerus

  15. Rhomboideus major • Attachments • spinal processes of thoracic vertebrae • scapula • Action • adducts scapula

  16. Rhomboideus minor • Attachments • spinal processes of vertebrae C7-T1 • Scapula • Action • Synergist to Rhomboideus major

  17. From: http://www.bio.psu.edu/people/faculty/strauss/anatomy/musc/backdeep.htm

  18. Erector Spinae (group) • A series of muscles along the spine • Can be used to extend the spinal column or bend to one side or the other • Many muscles involved.

  19. Dissection • Complete the chest muscle dissection and begin working on the muscles of the back • Chest • Xiphihumeralis, pectoralis major, pectoralis minor, pectoantebrachialis, serratus anterior • Back • Latissimus dorsi, spinotrapezius, acromiotrapezius, clavotrapezius, levator scapulae, teres major
