  2. 6. List the 4 major tissue types • 1. Epithelial- cover outer body and line inner body • 2. Connective- bind, support, produce blood, store fat • 3. Muscle- movement and tone • 4. Nerve- conduct impulse • Tissue is a group of cells that work together to carry out a function

  3. 7. EPITHELIAL TISSUE • Squamous- flat • Cuboidal- cube • Columnar- pillar or column • Example: skin Cover exterior & line cavities

  4. 7. Connective Tissue • Loose- fat (adipose) • Fibrous- tendon (muscle to bone) ligament (bone to bone) • Cartilage- nose, end of bone, fetal bones • Bone • Blood Join together other tissues

  5. 8. Muscular Tissue • Skeletal- striated- voluntary • Smooth- involuntary • Cardiac- heart

  6. Nervous Tissue • Brain • Spinal cord

  7. 9. Name the 3 types of epithelial membranes • Mucous- line interior organs or tubes to outside: oral cavity, respiratory, reproductive • Serous- line cavities, heart, lungs • Cutaneous- skin • A membrane is a sheet of tissue that covers or lines.
