  1. Version 1.3 Presentation of the Improvements made to Non EDI Result Entry and to its Link to Course Manager and School Census Jim HaywoodProduct Manager for Statutory Returns

  2. In this demonstration we are going to look at a course that has members, but does not have any link to a QWS QAN/Discount Code, nor any link to an Exam Award. We are going to see how the modifications we have made to non EDI Exam Results Entry allow such a course to indicate the exam result and for the AO QAN/Discount Code for that exam result to be included for the School Census Learning Aim. In other words we are looking at how we have solved one of the main problems found for School Census Autumn 2012

  3. Download the Qualification Files

  4. The first step is to make sure that we have downloaded the latest version of the QWS files. QWS is located at https://collectdata.education.gov.uk/qwsweb

  5. Click to select the generic QAN data

  6. Click to select the Current QAN XML

  7. Save it to a folder you can access from SIMS

  8. Do the same for the Discount Code, Awarding Bodies and Qualification Types XML files

  9. Next we make sure that we have downloaded the latest version of the Performance Measures XML file. This is available from SupportNet http://support.capitaes.co.uk

  10. If the Performance Measures XML file isn’t shown in the Files panel, we can access it by clicking the Files button and use the Resource Number to search for the Resource. The file for the Summer Beta release has been allocated Resources Number 21104, but the file for use with live data will have a different number.

  11. We can download to the same folder we used for the QWS files

  12. It’s a ZIP so we will have to extract the file before importing it into SIMS

  13. So we now have the latest copy of the five files we are going to import

  14. Import the Qualification Files

  15. We import the files by running Tools | Statutory Returns Tools | Import Qualification Data

  16. We can start by importing the QWS files

  17. The remaining three QWS files are identified in the same way

  18. Clicking the Import Catalogue Files button import the files we have identified and a log of the rusults

  19. It is best to scan the whole log, as errors, if the exist, are often at the bottom of the log

  20. The process is the same for importing the Performance Measures XML file

  21. A course where neither QWS QAN/Discount Code nor Exam Awards have been linked

  22. To show the full power of the new link between non EDI Results Entry, Course Management and School Census, we will link to a Course that has no other link to Exams Organiser

  23. The Problem Solving course has no links to Exam Awards

  24. .. Nor any links via a QWS QAN/Discount Code.

  25. The Problem Solving course has two members where Exam Result and the associated AO QAN/Discount Codes could be picked up from non EDI Results Entry

  26. Using non EDI Results Entry to enter results for the members of the Course

  27. Non EDI Results Entry is available from Focus | Examinations | Focus | PI Values | Edit PI Data
