  5. Grading Policy • Citizenship: Your citizenship grade will be based on preparation, participation, organization, behavior, attitude, and study habits, and following the classroom matrix • Letter Grade: Your letter grade will be based on the number of points you earn out of the number of points possible for each trimester. • Homework: Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday. It must be neat and follow the “musts” . Parents: please do not send notes excusing students from incomplete homework due to a busy schedule • I do not allow cell phones in my classroom. They are to be kept at home or in their lockers.

  6. Accelerated Classes • If a student has two trimester grades below a B (B- or lower) they may not be recommended for Accelerated course next year.

  7. Accelerated Classes • If a student has two trimester grades below a B (B- or lower) they may not be recommended for Accelerated course next year.

  8. Algebra 1 Class Final Grade of 80% or lower may be recommended to repeat Algebra 1

  9. Extra Credit • Due to the standards and pacing of the classes we do not offer extra credit assignments to help boost grades. Grades are based on knowledge/mastery of the standard. • In my class students can earn extra points by getting select test/quizzes signed and corrected on time, or on bonus questions on a test.

  10. HOMEWORK MUST: • Be in your spiral • Have date, HW #, page #, and problem #’s • Be in PENCIL • Be completed with ALL work (as shown in class/notes) shown BELOW the problem. Skip a line between problems • Have the original problem copied from the book (except problems with 2 or more sentences. • Have an answer column on the RIGHT side of the paper, do not skip lines. • Be graded with a red pen (not a marker or sharpie) with the correct answer written next to incorrect

  11. Homework Quiz/Check • Homework from the text must be graded by the student before coming to class. • At the start of class we will go over any questions brought up by students. • At the end of the week I will give a homework quiz/check. There will be a minimum of 8 questions from the homework (Thurs – Wed). Students are required to copy from their own graded and corrected work: the problem, all of the correct work, and the correct answer. The date and HW # must also be on the page. • There is no partial credit on a HW Check/Quiz • MUST keep all of the Math Journal pages in their 3 ring binder. Periodically pages will be collected and graded (the rest of the time they are used in the HW Check/Quiz)

  12. Tests/Quizzes • There will be a test at the end of every chapter. You will receive advance notice of all tests. You will be given a review so that you may study. • If you have an excused absence on the day of a test, you will be required to make up an alternative test at the discretion of the teacher. YOU must arrange a time with the teacher. If you wait more than two days to arrange a time to retake the test, you will receive a zero on the test. • All tests will be handed back when every student has completed the test. There may be situations where a student is out for a week, so I thank you in advance for your patience.

  13. Absences • You will find school difficult if you are absent frequently. Vacations are unexcused absences. If you plan to be away from school, get your work from me in advance. (Independent Study is an excellent way to keep on track with assignments) • When absent, you will need to copy someone’s notes. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to find out what you missed while you were absent and it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to make up all of the work in a timely manner. (you can call one of your study buddies and check edline for assignments) • You will have one day for each day you are absent to make up any missed work. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to reschedule a missed test or quiz. • Everyone has two study buddies in class that they can contact if they are absent and/or if you have questions. • **Homework is written on the white board and it is posted at ris.pvpusd.net ** the new site for Ridgecrest

  14. Tardies • You must be in your assigned seat, quiet and ready to work when the bell rings. • Four tardies will result in an “N” in citizenship. More than seven tardies will result in a “U” in citizenship. • You are allotted three passes to sign out and leave the room per trimester. After the third time you have signed out to leave the room they will count as tardies.
