  3. There is widespread destruction in Nepal after a devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck on Saturday 25th April. • Hundreds of people are dead. Thousands more are injured. Lives are shattered. • Many homes are destroyed or damaged. Families are left homeless. • Roads are blocked and communications are down, which is hampering the relief effort.

  4. The Habitat team in Nepal are on the ground, assessing families’ immediate needs and getting ready to respond. • In the long term they will support families to rebuild homes and lives. • Since 1997, Habitat Nepal has served 54,000 families. Using disaster resilient materials and technology, such as bamboo poles, were already an integral part of our house design. • In recent years, Habitat disaster response teams have served 500,000 people in the wake of disasters, including Typhoon Haiyan in The Philippines and Cyclone Pam in Vanuatu.

Prayer Points • Pray that survivors trapped in collapsed buildings will be freed quickly • Pray that relief will reach communities speedily • Pray for God’s love to comfort and heal those who lives have been torn apart • Pray for Habitat staff as they work with communities in need and cope with loss and devastation in their own lives
