What is Gymnastics Woman's artistic gymnastics is made up of 4 apparatuses beam, vault, uneven bars and floor. The aim is to preform tricks that require strength flexibility and balance
Beam Beam or balance beam is a long thin object about 5 inches wide covered in leather, it shows the both balance and strength in the gymnast. Only woman participate. Vault Vault is just like it sounds vaulting over something. It is similar texture to the beam about a metre and a half wide, a spring board placed at the front that the gymnast uses to jump over the vault, either forwards or backwards. Men and woman both participate in this apparatus.
Uneven bars Uneven bars are two bars, one is higher than the other but both are the same width and length. The aim is to get from one bar to the other without touching or falling on the ground while still performing tricks. Men have just one high bar. Floor Floor is a spring floor that gymnasts perform a routine to music whilst tumbling and moving all around the floor. Men participate in floor but the do a routine without music.
clothing • Women wear leotards either long sleeved or short sleeved. Leotards can not be cut above hip height or be cut past the shoulder blades, back or front. Any leotard that is somewhat see-through, is also against the rules. Hair must be tied back either in a braid, ponytail or bun. gloves for bars. some wear gym shoes
