Execution = 4.2 • Execution = Technique / Amplitude / Posture • Slight / Small faults = .05 – .10 • Medium faults = Up to .20 • Large faults = Up to .30 • This is the largest category for a gymnasts to earn points on her routine. • It is better to do a clean skill that you have prepared for, than to throw the BIG skill that is not perfected, is done incorrectly, you take deductions and risk injury. • This is what I mean when I tell the girls “A clean routine is our goal!”

VAULT NOTES: Each gymnast will have 1 or 2 vaults. The first vault is averaged separately from the second vault. The better of the two is averages is taken. Three attempts are authorized to attempt 1 or 2 same of different vaults. A balk is an incomplete attempt.
2018-2019 NEW RULE BOOK ! • Vault – New Rule! • Tsuk vaults can be spotted and take a 1.0 deduction. • In past they called it a facilitated vault and gave you a 2.0 courtesy score. • Reason: Safety
VAULT • Three principle parts: • First Flight phase– (From board to vault table) the position of suspended body up to the moment the hands contact the vault table. • Repulsion phase – (Time on the vault table) contact and repulsion from the table. • Second Flight phase – (Flight off the table to the landing) the position of the body from the time the gymnast leaves the table up to the landing.

UNEVEN BARS • A good routine consists of continuous movements including kips, swings, high casts, hip and sole circles. The highest level routine also includes half and full twists and saltos. The average routine consists of 8-12 skills.

EVENT REQUIREMENTS BARS = 1.0 • Superior release/flight element (excludes dismounts) • One direction change (excludes mounts and dismounts) • Kip • Element that achieves (within 20 degrees) or passes through vertical in a stretched position. • Superior dismount • Note: each of these requirements are worth .02 = 1.0

BALANCE BEAM NOTES: A beam routine should last no longer than 1:30 A warning shall be given at 1:20 A gymnast has 30 seconds to remount the beam after a fall There are different valuations for the same skill on beam and floor
BALANCE BEAM • The Beam routine should show: • Front/Side/Back skills • Routine should move smoothly with many changes of level, direction, and rhythm. Elements showing balance, dance, acro, flexibility and sureness.
EVENT REQUIREMENTS BALANCE BEAM =1.0 • Minimum 360 degree turn on one foot • One acro flight element (must start and finish on the beam) • Acro series of Difficulty (both elements must start and finish on the beam) • Superior dismount • Dance series of Difficulty

Floor Exercise • A well composed floor routine flows with creative expression, demonstrating changes of level, direction and dynamics. The gymnast shall use the entire floor area, passing through a quadrants, to create and interesting pattern. The routine shall have balanced distribution of dance and acro.
FLOOR EXERCISE NOTEs: A floor routine lasts no longer than 1 minute 30 seconds and shall start when the gymnast moves. There are different valuations for the same skill on floor and beam
EVENT REQUIREMENTS FLOOR = 1.0 • Acro • Twisting salto – at least ½ (180 degrees) • Three acro passes – a series consisting of two or more directly connected acro elements; • With the exception of the round – off, all elements in a pass must receive Value Part credit. • Elements may be in any of the three directions: forward, backward, sideward. • A two element pass shall include a back-to-back superior, a high superior or an advanced high superior.
EVENT REQUIREMENTS FLOOR = 1.0 Cont’d • Acro Cont’d • Superior acro element in the third acro pass or as last acro element • Credit may be awarded even if the first and/or second pass is broken • A series of front or back handsprings, which receives superior credit can be considered the last acro element • Dance • One jump/leap or turn on one foot of at least superior difficulty • Dance series of difficulty of two different Group 1 leaps/Jumps
