Monday 11th AprilMr Cairns to welcome School Council This week we will be picking litter from our school playground to make sure that any unwanted rubbish is banished from our site! Please make sure that you use the bins that have been provided for you.
OUR AIMS: • Pupils will choose healthier options • More fruit will be eaten during morning breaks • Reduction on litter • AS A SCHOOL COUNCIL WE HAVE: • Collected and analysed data from our classes • Met with Catherine from ‘Country STYLE’ who will be supplying our fruit • Held a ‘tasting’ session on the playground
School Council FRUIT data: • 95 pupils expressed that they would like to eat a piece of fruit during morning break; • All classes thought that eating a healthy snack was extremely important; • It was agreed that one piece of fruit would cost 20p per day; • School Council members will ‘top up’ the fruit bowls every morning (before 9am).
The 5 different food groups Fresh fruit and vegetables should make up about 1/3 of your daily food intake; they are rich in vitamins and minerals.
If you would like to bring in your own fruit from home you are more than welcome to do so. Snacks from home should include: fruit; vegetables or cheese. Please refrain from bringing in processed foods as these are typically high in fat and salt.
Our first delivery of fresh fruit will arrive in school next Monday 18th April. Please speak to your class School Council Rep if you need to discuss anything. Thank you for listening.
