  2. Martin’s studies He enrolled in graduate studies at Boston University, completing his doctorate in 1953 and receiving the degree in 1955.

  5. In 1955 he organized the Montgomery bus boycott because the buses were reserved towhite people.

  6. Martin in prison Between 1958 and 1963 he was arrested several times for his work in defense of human rights.

  7. Washington's march On 28 August 1963 Martin Luther King Jr. organized a historic march to Washington to show the importance of solving the nation's racial problems. About 250,000 people participated in this event.

  8. I have a dream 250,000 people gathered and listened to Martin Luther King, his immortal words were: "I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character".

  9. Martin’s Nobel On October 14, 1964, King received the Nobel Peace Prize for fighting against racial inequality through nonviolence. In 1968 Martin was planning a national occupation of Washington, called the Poor People's Campaign,(this was an effort to gain economic justice for poor people in the United States)

  10. Martin Luther’s death He was assassinated on 4 April 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was trying to help the striking garbage workers. The funeral was held on 9 April 1968 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.
