TG/XD Transition TG awardees are expected to make funding last until March 31, 2010 XD start date is Apr 1, 2010 RP Planning non-Track 2 Operations target end date Mar 31, 2010 users may need to transition off systems prior to Mar 31 to allow for shutting down/transitioning hardware GIG Planning transition of services to XD Apr 1 thru Jul 31, 2010 provide generic plan – specifics won’t be known until XD award is public in late March 2010

Transition Items • NOS • Security services • Ticket system • Instrumentation/monitoring • Email services • QA/CUE data and processes • Network services • UFP • AMIE, TGCDB • POPS, Allocations process • User Portal • Web sites, knowledgebase, news • Gateways • Which gateways will transition? • Need to understand what TG will do. • EOT • Communicate transition dates/impacts to users • Training to move users to track systems • TG10 meeting • Software • Packaging, kits and documentation already in good shape • AUS • Help users transition to Track systems • Document and communicate user concerns • Data/Vis. • Assist vis. users as necessary • Data migration to Track sites (see archival storage problems)

Process • Identify any time critical issues • Triage such items concurrently with plan development • Inventory – Due mid/late Jan, 2009 • Collect details by area for • Transition items • Estimated work and effort levels • Identify site specific transition issues • Plan development – Feb, 2009 • Roll up inventory • Establish timeline and deliverables and staff for pre-XD work • Review budget impacts • Present plan to the Forum • Execute the plan • Revise and expand on plan once XD winner is known.

Known “triage” issues • Begin communicating to the users • EOL of systems • Data migration timing • Will almost immediately also require site specific documentation • Deadlines, scheduling, contacts, expectations • Prepping staff for user transition support • Transition training • TG10 meeting • One I thought of at lunch but forgot again • Others?

  6. Team structure • “Someone” is coordinating. Any volunteers? • Area Directors will directly manage efforts with working group leads and other staff in their areas • Project management team to help with plan development • Communications team to help with getting the word out • Coordinator will work with Forum chair and GIG Deputy Director
