  2. Epiphany derives from Greek ἐπιφάνεια, epiphaneia, it means "to appear", "appearance," "manifestation." Traditionally it is on 6th January and it's a Christian feast day.

  3. Italian tradition The word "Epiphany" wastransformedintoBefana, the great fair held at thatseason, whenlittlestatuesof terracotta were sold. In popular folklore, Befana visits the childrenofpartsof Italy on the eveofJanuary 6 tofilltheirsockswithcandy and presentsiftheyhavebeengood or a lumpofcoal or dark candyiftheyhavebeennaughty. In otherregions, especially in the South, childrenmay look forwardinsteadto a visitfrom the threeWiseMenthemselves (Balthasar, Melchior, and Gaspar).
