מוסף להגדה של פסח 15-16 באפריל, 1946 מצגות קלריטה ואפרים

המצגת בוצעה ביוזמתו ובעזרתו של דודי בן נעים, אוצר הספרים הנדירים שבספריית בר-אילן, שהעמיד לרשותנו את ההגדה.

הגדה נדירה זו, או בשמה "מוסף להגדה של פסח" נכתבה ונערכה בעברית וביידיש , על ידי יוסף דב שיינזון שגם אייר אותה בחיתוכי עץ של מיקלוש אדלר לערב הפסח הראשון לאחר ששוחרר ממחנה הריכוז. הטקסטים של ההגדות המסורתיות קבועים מאות בשנים ומשמשים את הקהילות היהודיות בליל הסדר. הגדה זו סוטה באופן משמעותי מצורתה המסורתית, מוראות מחנות המוות באים לביטוי בכל דף ודף. המרירות, הצער, והנחישות לשרוד משקפים את חוויותיו של המחבר . ההגדה שנערכה בחסות הארגון הציוני המאוחד של הניצולים בגרמניה ( Achida ), הופצה על ידי יחידות צבא ארצות הברית בבוואריה במחנות ה"עקורים". ה-A שעל כריכת ההגדה הוא סמלה של הארמיה השלישית ששלטה באיזור ועזרה לפליטים ולעקורים. יוסף דב שיינזון היה פעיל ציוני מליטא שהשיג אישור להגר לארץ ישראל קודם הפלישה הסובייטית, שבסופו של דבר מנעה את יציאתו . כאשר הצבא הגרמני כבש את האיזור הוא נכלא בגטאות בשאוולי וקובנה, ובילה ארבע שנים במחנות ריכוז נאציים .אמן חיתוכי העץ, מיקלוס אדלר, היה מורה לאמנות בדברצן , הונגריה . מתישהו ב1944, אדלר ובני משפחתו הועמסו על רכבת לאושוויץ. אבל הרכבת שלהם הופנתה ללאגר 15בווינה, ולאחר מכן לגטו טרזין, שם הם שוחררו על ידי הצבא האדום ב -8 במאי 1945. זהותו של אמן חיתוכי העץ נתבררה שנים מאוחר יותר. לא ברור אם עורך ההגדה ידע את זהותו.

משראו חסידי אומות העולם, כי היטלר גזר על הכל והינו מכלה את ישראל, עמדה סנהדריה גדולה שלהם ומרוב אבל הכריזה על השתיקה. ותדבק לשונם לחיכם. עמדו שעה קלה אבלים וראשם מושפל (ניחום אבלים לפי המנהג במקום). והיטלר משסה כלבים מורעבים בתינוקות של ישראל והם קורעים אותם לגזרים. והיה הולך אותו רשע ובונה תאי גזים וכבשנים ומכלה בהם את ישראל. וגדול הצער אצל אומות העולם. וחסידים שבהם אומרים: מה אנו ומה כוחנו כי מצילם מידי אותו רשע, ואולי אצבע אלוהים היא ומה אנו שנתערב בהנהגת העולם, והיו בני-ישראל מבקשים להציל תינוקותיהם ועומדים ומוסרים אותם לנוצרים להחביאם. ומהם אלו מחביאים ודורשים שכרם, ואלו דורשים שכרם, ומחביאים ומוציאים אותם אחר-כך להורג. ויש אי-אלו מחביאים באמונה ללא שכר. ואי-אלו מעבירים אותם על דתם ועושים מהם עכו"ם. ואבותיהם של אותם תינוקות נסחבים על ידי הרוצחים למחנות ושם מכלים בהם על ידי עבודה קשה, רעב וכל מיני עינויים ומחלות. והכל רואים את ישראל מתבוססים בדמם ועוברים על פניהם. וישראל הולך ופוחת. וייאנחו בני ישראל ויצעקו ואין שומע להם. ויצעקו אל ה' אלוהי אבותיהם וירא את עניים ואת לחצם ותעל שוועתם. וימציא אותו רשע היטלר כלי-משחית פאוראשון וישלחו במשנאיו שמעבר לים והיה הורג בהם עם רב. והולכים תינוקת ונהרגים ואין עצה . ויחרה אפם של משנאי אותו רשע ויחגרו מתניהםוישלחו באותו רשע ובעמו חרון אף, עברה, זעם.

אברהם יהודה קלאוזנר (27 אפריל 1915 - 28 יוני 2007) היה רב וקפטן של צבא ארצות הברית שהפך "דמות אב" ליותר מ 30,000 הניצולים והרעבים שנמצאו במחנה ריכוז דכאו, 16 קילומטר צפונית מערבית למינכן, זמן קצר לאחר ששוחרר ביום 29 באפריל 1945. הוא גם דאג לעוד אלפים שנותרו ללא קורת גג במחנות, כשכוחות בעלות הברית המנצחים היו אחראים לגורלם ועתידים לקבוע לאן ילכו. Sheinson is a fellow survivor from our native Lithuania. It was not a traditional Haggadah as we knew in Lithuania; it had many parts missing, but the altered text was specially suited for us survivors, especially those of us who intended to make Alyah to Eretz Israel. "We were slaves to Hitler in Germany." Was written on the first page, and all around the page were drawings of Jews being burnt and tortured, the chimneys of Auschwitz with the death head and the ominous sign," Brausebad" with the Swastika underneath.” “We then began the Seder with the usual blessings and dividing the six ingredients on the plates. Then we read the "Mah Nishtana". Indeed what had changed? What was the difference between this night and any other night? The first and most painful difference was the absence of small children who traditionally asked the four questions. They were all murdered by the Nazis. I thought of the years before the war in Lithuania when we all sat at the Pesach table and my younger cousins were asking the questions. They were all murdered for the simple reason that they were too young to work. The Survivors' Haggadah This is a very rare Haggadah written for the first Passover after its creators were liberated from concentration camps and ghettos. The Hebrew and Yiddish text was written by Yosef Dov Sheinzon and it includes woodcuts by Miklos Adler. Haggadot are religious texts that set out the order of the Passover Seder. This haggadah diverges significantly from the traditional form, reflecting the bitterness, sorrow, and determination to survive that reflect the author's experiences. It was produced by Josef Sheinson under the auspices of The United Zionist Organization of the Saved Remnant in Germany (Achida), and it was then copied as a second version by the U.S. Third Army (the United States Army of Occupation of Bavaria) for distribution to "displaced persons" in camps. The two versions are described in the literature as the "Sheinson Haggadah" and the "'A' Haggadah", respectively. The 'A' refers to the Third Army symbol on the cover. The Portland State Library has the rare original Scheinson version, which is also held by the Harvard and Princeton libraries.

The Yizkor genre includes themes of life before the Holocaust, the Holocaust itself, and the regeneration and renewal that followed. The Haggadah represents a fulcrum between these latter two themes: turning from the horrors of the Holocaust toward a future in Israel and the Diaspora. When the German Army came he was interned in the Shavli and Kovno ghettos, spending four years in Nazi concentration camps. Sometime in 1944, Adler and his family were loaded onto a transport for Auchwitz, but their train was diverted to Lager 15 in Vienna, and then to Theresienstadt, where they were liberated by the Soviet army on May 8, 1945. Ironically, it was not known that Adler was the creator of the woodcuts in the Haggadah until decades later. It is even uncertain whether Sheinson knew the artist's identity. This Haggadah also has a special connection to Portland State University. The Hebrew lead type for the first edition was secured by Judah Nadich, grandfather of Natan Meir, Lorry I. Lokey Assistant Professor of Judaic Studies. Judah Nadich was the U.S. Army's senior Jewish chaplain while Allied forces were liberating Nazi concentration camps, and was advisor to General Dwight Eisenhower on Jewish affairs in Europe.

In the winter of 1945-1946, Holocaust survivors in displaced persons camps around Munich created an extraordinary illustrated haggadah in preparation for the first Passover after liberation. For Five decades the original was all but forgotten, Now The Jewish Publication Society is proud to issue this facsimile edition, previously translated into English and published by the American Jewish Historical Society only as a limited edition. This is a haggadah written for and truly dedicated to the She'erith Hapletah, the Saved Remnant, "the few who escaped." Interwoven with the traditional Passover liturgy are two stories: that of the deliverance from Pharaoh in Egypt, and the Holocaust story of those Jews who survived Hitler. Bold illustrations vividly associate the Exodus with the liberation from Nazi horror. The heart of the work was not created by a group or organization but by one dedicated man, Lithuanian teacher and writer Yosef Dov Sheinson, who not only wrote the haggadah but also designed and decorated the pages and selected the powerful woodcuts crafted by another survivor, artist Mikls Adler. In his fascinating introduction editor Saul Touster, Professor Emeritus of American Studies at Brandeis University, provides not only the history behind this haggadah but also an incisive commentary that reveals the startling emotional depth the words and illustrations possess.
