  2. EN QUE CONSISTE? • Es un sistema de distribución de información basado en hipertexto o hipermedios enlazados y accesibles a través de Internet. Con un navegador web, un usuario visualiza sitios web compuestos de páginas web que pueden contener texto, imágenes, vídeos u otros contenidos multimedia, y navega a través de esas páginas usando hiperenlaces.

COMO SURGIO? • En 1980, Tim Berners-Lee, un contratista independiente en la Organización Europea para la Investigación Nuclear CERN Suiza, desarrollo ENQUIRE, como una base de datos personal de gente y modelos de software, pero también como una forma de interactuar con el hipertexto; cada nueva página de información en ENQUIRE debía estar enlazada a una página existente. • En 1984 Berners-Lee vuelve a CERN, y consideró los problemas de la presentación de información: los físicos alrededor del mundo necesitaban compartir datos y sus computadoras y software de presentación eran diferentes. Su jefe Mike Sendall, alentó a Berners-Lee a comenzar a implementar su sistema sobre la recientemente adquirida estación de trabajo NeXT. Que llamo "WorldWide Web. • En 1990, Berners-Lee había desarrollado todas las herramientas necesarias para trabajar la Web

  4. USOS Y APLICACIONES • La World Wide Web permite una manera más organizada de acceder a la información disponible en Internet, presentando una conexioncon el usuario mediante navegadores como Netscape, Mosaic y Microsoft Internet Explorer, firefox.
