  2. Introduction • The scientific name for wolf is Canis lupus • They live in the canine family • The common name for a wolf is dog • Wolves are the same as dogs

What Wolves Looks Like • The average male weights 95 pounds and the female weighs ten pounds less • The colors are the gray wolf the red wolf and the black and white wolf • Wolves have 42 teeth they have so many teeth to help theme hunt • Long furry tail • Fur coat is long and very furry • Large ears to help them hear the other animals at night • The wolf’s nose is so big and black to help it smell a long way • Wolves have long legs-they are built for speed

  4. Life span • Every wolf lives for ten years • The wolves are in danger because people are hunting them

  5. Where Wolves Live • Wolves almost live anywhere except tropical rainforest and arid deserts because it is too hot for them to survive • Wolves live on the tundra and plains, grasslands swamps, mountain ranges and forest

  7. How Wolves Get Their Food • Wolves get their food by hunting in packs and working together • Wolves eat deer, rabbits, mice, racoons, and sometimes fish porcupines, skunks, cats, beavers, otters, and squirrles • Wolves eat about 20 meals a day

Physical Adaptations-what a wolf looks like • Wolves can have a variety of colors—mostly gray, white and black to help them camouflage • A wolf’s fur is more coarse and rough than a dog to help keep it warm • They have a broad snoutto help it grab prey • Long body • Sharp teeth • Ears that stick straight up to help it hear better • Big black eyes to help it see far away and at night

  13. What is inside a wolf • Good sense of smell to help them find prey • Good eye sight to spot prey and predators • Sharp claws to help it rip apart prey • Strong muscles to help it run fast and take down prey

  14. Behavioral adaptation • Wolves can track prey for days by following the scent trails of prey • A wolf is loyal to a pack and would do anything to protect the cubs • They travel and attack prey in packs to help take down big animals • They wrap their tail around themselves to keep warm.

  15. Facts about wolves • There is no record of a healthy wolf eating a human being • The name of a male wolf is dog • A fully grown wolf can reach 27 to 31 inches to the shoulder
