World War I Visual Essay I chose the following images for my essay because I found the soldiers who fought in the war to be the most interesting. The Doughboys, as well as soldiers from other countries, endured many hardships. I also think the “dogfighting” was an exciting use of technology in war. Picture 1 shows an American soldier with the equipment he would have carried into the trenches. Picture 2 is of an airplane battle. Pilots like Eddie Rickenbacker and the Red Baron would have done this. And Picture 3 I chose because I liked the silhouette of the soldiers carrying their gear in France.
