Fact 2 • About 500,000 emigrants traveled to the west using these trails
Fact 3 • The trails were used by fur traders, families looking for new land, gold hunters, and adventurers.
Fact 4 • It was very dangerous to travel to the west because of Native American attacks, bandit attacks, and bad weather.
Fact 5 • These trails became the basis for modern day transportation such as railways and highways.
