  1. AF3 Alchemical Research • Alchemy was a mystical philosophy that predated chemistry. Some of what we know in chemistry today comes from the research of alchemists and not scientists. • Alchemists were wrong about a great many things, but they were at least sometimes methodical in their approach • Many of the salts and chemicals we use in the lab today were used by these ancient philosophers

  2. Lifting the Veil • Prepare a 2 minute presentation on the “true” identity of an alchemical substance. You may use the white board and a marker for your presentation, but no powerpoint.

  3. Lifting the Veil You will be assessed on the quality of your research and also the quality of your presentation (voice, pace, clarity, eye contact, etc…)

  4. Lifting the Veil Your research should include • Scientific name • Colour • Texture • formation in nature • Manufacturing process • Costs • Uses
