DenmarkFSC certified forests • 47 forests are over 1000 ha, they make up 24% (161.104 ha) of the total forested area. • Five forests of these are FSC certified and make up 72%, all publicly owned. • State forests (106.289 ha), • Bornholm (1.969ha), Århus (1.516 ha), Herning (1.754 ha), Ålborg (1.252 ha). • Only 2 forests under 100 ha are FSC certified.

The Danish smallholder challenge • Burden for meeting FSCs requirements for small forest holders should match the cost of certification. • Current national standard not applicable • Too much paperwork • Registering/documentation • Management plan and monitoring report publicly available • Set a side areas The SDG attempts to address this in new standard -Support with guidance –’translate’ standard
