  2. Welcome! Who’s in the room? • Take 3 minutes to introduce yourself to the person next to you and share 1 thing you are doing to expand dual enrollment or some other pre-college experience(s) for middle or high school students in your service area!

  3. Reach Out.(E. Barnett, Differentiated Dual Enrollment and other Collegiate Experiences: Lessons from the STEM Early College Expansion Partnership, NY: Community College Research Center, Teachers College, Columbia U, March 2018) Definitions • Most Advanced Academically – students who plan to go to college and meet traditional eligibility requirements • Academically Mid-Range – students who hope to go to college but have eligibility and success concerns • Least Academically Advanced – students who may not think of themselves as college material but might be convinced with guidance Equity. The concept of being fair and just.

A body of rules or customs based on general principles of fair play.

Report: A Coalition of the Willing • Presidential convening & shared leadership (CSCC & ESC) • The Compact: 11 colleges/universities, 25 industry partners, & over 40 from K12 • The Goal: Achieving 65% college credential attainment by 2025 • Investment: AEP Foundation, ODE Straight A grants, JP Morgan Chase, and now USDOE I3 “…more focus would be placed on partnering with urban high schools and providing opportunities for students from underrepresented groups” – JFF Report

Strategies & Scale • Regular, relentless collaboration (meetings, meetings, meetings) • Professional Development for faculty • Using the ESC as intermediary • Student support • Communication (portals, data sharing) • College Readiness strategies (reading & math) Equity. Not everything that is faced can be changed. But nothing can be changed until is it faced. –James Baldwin

Treating different things the same can generate as much inequality as treating the same things differently. –Kimberle Crenshaw What have you changed? Take a few minutes to discuss at your table. Each table will share out a strategy for strengthening partnership and offering more opportunities to all students.

What’s next? • Ongoing partnership (meetings & discussion: reach out, review, revise, report, repeat) • Teacher-faculty collaborations • More employer engagement (Nationwide Children’s, AEP, Moody Nolan,…) • Student & Family Engagement around these new opportunities (including scholarships) What’s next for you?
