Mission of UN Police To enhance international peace and security by supporting Member States in conflict, post conflict and other crisis situations to realize effective, efficient, representative, responsive and accountable police services that serve and protect the population. Protection of Civilians All necessary means, up to and including the use of deadly force, aimed at preventing or responding to threats of violence against civilians, within capabilities and areas of operations, and without prejudice to the responsibility of the host government. 2015 Policy on POC
UN Police and POC United Nations police play a key role in the protection of civilians, bringing to bear skills that complement those of the military or civilian components, in providing physical protection and establishing a protective environment.
