  4. QuestionS • What number is the most important number of the Periodic Table? ____________ ____________ Why? • Where is most of the mass found in an atom? ______ • What charge does an atom have in a “natural “state? • How can you get the mass number of an atom?

  5. Question Almost all elements do have specific atoms that may have a different number of neutrons in the nucleus. What do we call those atoms? _________________________ When ever atoms are ready to bond, they become charged (either + or - ). What do we call these chargedatoms? __________________________

  13. Question • This is the formula for which physical property? 100 g 20 mL = 5 g/ml

  14. Volume • What is the formula for volume? Length x width x height What are the 3 ways you can express volume? If it is a liquid, or measured in a liquid, you can use liters (mL, L, kL). Since liquids already imply filling up a height you don’t need the 3 exponent. If the object is a solid, and you can use a meter stick, then you have to use the 3 exponent. If the object is small, like medicine in a shot, you can use cc (cubic centimeters.) This already says cube, so you don’t need the 3 exponent.

  15. Volume Questions • Formula for volume? ___________________________ • What is the correct ending units: • 6 g 6 g • 3 cm = 2 ___ 3 mL = 2_____ • 6 g • 3 cc = 2 ________

  20. Question • What is different about the molecules of solid, liquid and gas? • Can break away and move freely • Can break away, but can’t quite move past each other • Pull of gravity is so strong, the molecules can only vibrate against each other.

  21. Question • Lenora left her ice tea on the counter. When she returned, the outside of her glass was wet. This was due to • The glass was really sad to see her go. • Evaporation • Condensation • Her little brother found it and spit on it.

  23. Question • You are visiting the Queen of England, and it is High Tea time. The tea arrives just the way the Queen likes it – very hot. You need to cool your tea. Would you choose a wooden spoon, a plastic spoon or a silver spoon? Why?

  24. Question • Marvin forgot about the chocolate kisses left on the window sill. When he found them, they were all squishy. In terms of heat transfer, why did the kisses melt?

  25. States of Energy: Potential Vs. Kinetic • When the rope about to hit the ground, it is at it’s greatest __________ and lowest ____________ energy. • The young girl holds the rope above her head, the rope is at itsgreatest ___________ and her lowest ___________.

  26. QuestionS • Two elements undergo a chemical change and become a ______________________ • The basic unit of all matter is the _______________ • When sand and water combine, you have a ________ • Chocolate milk is a _________________ ___________ • Alphabet soup is a _________________ ____________

  28. Question: How does Heat Transfer? • When heat transfers by touch, it is called ___________________ • When heat transfers by mixing hot and cold, it is called ___________________ • When heat transfers by radiating from a distance, it is called ___________________

  29. Questions: What type of Heat Transformation? • Air conditioning • Stovetop • Boiling water • The Sun • A heater that has a fan • The coil radiator in an old house

  30. Question • For a battery to operate a light: A.The electric current goes from the positive end, to the negative end, then through the light B. The electric current goes from the the negative end, to the positive end, and then through the light C. The electric current goes from the positive end, through the light, to the negative end D. The electric current goes from the negative end, through the light, to the postive end
