Residence permit I • For EU/EEA-students: • Online registration. www.udi.no (no fee) • Book an appointment with the police (within 3 months) • Show up for your appointment • You will need: • your passport, • current address in Tromsø, • insurance (e.g. European Health Insurance E 111/private health insurance), • Admission Letter and Study Plan (Free-movers).

  3. Residence permit II • For non-EU/EEA-students: Report to the police station within 7 days in order to get your residence permit card. • You will need: • your passport, • entry date to Norway, and • your current address in Tromsø with room number. • Admission Letter and Study Plan (Free-movers)

  4. Residence permit III • Remember to renew your residence permit!! • Application deadline: one month prior to expiration of current permit. • Online registration

  5. Residence permit IV • Where? • Police Station • Address: Grønnegata 122 • Opening hours • Opening hours: Weekdays 08.30-14.00 (Wednesday closed)

  6. Norwegian identity number (Personnummer)- for students in Norway more than 6 months • Why? • You need a Norwegian identity number to: • Open a bank account • Apply for loans and grants from Lånekassen (Quota students) • Obtain a tax card (work) • Become a member of the National Health Insurance System • Students from the Nordic countries can use their national identity number.

  7. Norwegian identity number/Personnummer-students in Norway more than 6 months • Where? • Folkeregisteret (Population Registry) is located at • Ligningskontoret (the Tax Office) • Address: Kaigata 3-5 • When? • Opening hours: 9-15 • Documents you need: • Specific form, passport, residence permit

  8. Temporary identity number -students in Norway from 3-6 months • D-number • You can apply for this number in a bank if you wish to/have to open an account • Bring • passport (with residence permit (non-EU) • Student card incl. paid semester fee • Admission Letter

  9. Work permit • No fees to get a work permit. • Work permit automatically granted together with your first residence permit • Up to 20 hours of work per week (part-time) • Remember TAX card • Nav (The Norwegian labour and Welfare Administration)
