  10. Yangtze River • It is the third longest river in the world. • The name means “long river”. • It is used to move goods. • This river floods each year but it has high banks which protect the houses from the flood.

Huange He River • Full of yellow silt (fine particles of rock) • One of the longest rivers in the world • Extremely muddy • This river floods each year. • How did the Ancient Chinese people use the Huange He River? • The ancient Chinese people settled along the Huange He River. • Most families farmed the land they lived on. • They used the water from the river to irrigate, or water, their crops. • The ancient Chinese people also fished in the Huange He River.

  15. Deserts in China • Gobi Desert • One of the world’s largest deserts. • The Gobi Desert is a cold desert in north-western China! • There aren’t very • many plants. • It is very stony!

  16. Mountains in China: Himalayas • Highest mountain range in the world • It is home to “Mount Everest”, the world’s tallest mountain! • Name means “home of snow”.
