Vision Each Individual, organization or group has some vision of the future. Vision is a statement which substantiates the existence and image of a better future.
Famous Visions • Mohandas Gandhi: “An independent country in which all religions and people could live peacefully together, working on a better future for all.” • Martin Luther King: “A better life for black people, recognized as full and equal citizens of their country.” • Alexander Graham Bell: “To be able to communicate by voice with people all over the country and the world.”
Vision “The first step toward creating an improved future is developing the ability to envision it.”
Current JCI Vision “To be the leading global network of young active citizens.”
Mission “The mission states who we are and the objective of the organization’s activities.”
JCI Mission “To provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change.”
The Declaration of Principles We believe: • That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life; • That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations; • That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise; • That government should be of laws rather than of men; • That earth’s great treasure lies in human personality; • And that service to humanity is the best work of life.
