  4. 1819 Maryland decided to tax the federal bank (Hamilton’s plan) McCulloch v Maryland

  5. McCulloch, a cashier for the bank refused to pay the tax State had no power or right to tax the federal government! McCulloch v Maryland

  6. The Supreme Court agrees! Back off Maryland. Established the superiority of the federal government. McCulloch v Maryland
