The garages are situated 15 metres north of Arden House. The sun is obscured for approximately 6 months of the year between October and March. From March to October the garages receive full sun.

Potential source of local soil Large mound of gravelly soil (just 200 yards up the road) There is a Costa coffee processing plant in the area which produces a large quantity of Coffee chaff.
Proposed plan of action on substrate planning • Soil test to gauge proportion on clay / loam / silt and ph of available soil substrate • Test soil sifter • Work out how many bricks required for drainage layer and to go inside wire mesh around the edge • Need to consider how many different grades of soil are required • How much coffee chaff is useful? • Need to consider how to bag and transport material
