Polychaeta • The phylum of polychaetes have been separated into two groups the errentia and sedentaria. They live in either the water or on land. • Errentia crawl, swim, or tunnel through sediment. They are either heterotrophic or scavengers. They have leg like appendages called parapodia. They have well developed head regions. • Sedentaria live in burrows or in tubes underground. The burrows can be in sand or in mud. Although, the majority are tube builders, of different composition and structure. They feed on organic material, such as sand, that has been deposited on the ocean floor.
Oligochaeta • They range fro 1/32 in.to about 10 ft.They live in the soil, wells, marshes, and swamps in length. • Other species of oligochaetes under rocks on the seashore, in the leaves of tropical trees and vines, on the surface of glaciers, or on the gills of freshwater crayfish.
