Nursing Research EBSCO CINAHL Library Hours Mon. - Fri. 7:30 am – 11:00 pm Saturday 10:00 am – 6:00 pm Sunday 12:00 noon – 11:00 pm Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature Where to Find Information • CINAHL, the primary database for scholarly research articles in the nursing and allied health literature, is a collection of over 2, 850 journals and contains more than 1,000,000 records dating back to 1982. In addition to nursing, it also contains scientific, medical, and technical journals, book chapters, and dissertations. • Our CINAHL pamphlet provides an in depth look at features and options. To maximize your success, do the following: • Sign In to My EBSCO host. You can save your searches and use other features. Create your own username and password. • The Advanced Search provides many options to refine your search: subject headings, text words, author, etc. • Peer Reviewed is a check-box option that limits your search results to Peer Reviewed (refereed) articles. There are many limits and subsets options to use. • Use the icon to access online full text journals available from the library. • Search results can be printed, emailed, or downloaded. PsycINFO Get online, full text articles in PubMed! Change the Display option from Summary to Abstractand look for the Online/In Print icons. Also, use the ‘Limits’ feature to select Nursing Journals from the Subsets option (see the PubMed for Nursing guide. Use the link on the library homepage.) Produced by the American Psychological Association PsycINFO covers the scholarly professional and academic literature in psychology and the related disciplines of medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, health administration, law, public health, and more. Original research and journal articles, literature reviews, reports of surveys, case studies, theoretical discussions, bibliographies, and descriptions of tests and apparatus are also included. Indexed materials are selected from more than 1,300 journals as well as book chapters and books in the English language. Most records have abstracts. HAPI Health and Psychosocial Instruments HAPI provides access to information on measurement instruments (i.e., rating scales, questionnaires, index measures, interview schedules, checklists, coding schemes/ manuals, projective techniques, vignettes/ scenarios, tests) in the health and psychosocial sciences. HAPI assists to identify measures needed for research studies, grant proposals, program evaluation, client/patient assessment, class papers/projects, and theses/dissertations. HAPI does not provide the actual instrument, but does provide analysis, evaluation, and citations to locating a variety of instruments. • Questions?
