Introduction • Purpose • Subsidized program that assists employees with daily commuting costs to and from work • Participants can receive up to $230 per month in Transit Benefits • Eligible Employees • Full Time • Summer Hires Interns, (should contact the ED Transportation Services Branch @ OMFMSTransportationService@ed.gov). • Interns • Part time • Non Eligible Employees • Participating in Parking Program: to include participation in a carpool from another agency.

Smart Benefits • Type of Benefit: Smart Benefit – Electronic SmarTrip card (Download monthly at Metro Kiosks @ Metro Stations) • Processing Timeframes: • 30 business days ( if applications are received and approved by DOT by the 10th of the month. • Vendors: • Metro Rail • Metro Bus • Vanpools • Arlington Transit • CUE Fairfax • Dash • DC Circulator • Fairfax Connector • Loudon Commuter Bus • Martz • Montgomery County Ride-on • PRTC • Quicks Bus • The Bus

SMART Benefits • Important Notes • Employees must purchase and register a SmarTrip card in their name online at www.wmata.com for $5. • Smart Benefits may be downloaded onto SmarTrip cards anytime during the month at any metro station. If benefits are not downloaded they will be credited back to ED. • Lost or stolen cards should be reported to WMATA immediately • 1-888-SmarTrip or 1-888-762-7874. • ED Does Not Provide Retroactive Benefits

Parking Permit • How to Apply: • Send email to OMFMSTransportationservice@ed.gov to request a Sunflower account created. • After account creation - An email will be sent with instructions on how to complete the online application. • Complete application through AMS Sunflower System via EDCAPS All status inquiries should be sent to the email address above.
