The armed forces‘ political mission • The armed forces • support the civilian authorities in preparing and conducting the UEFA EURO 2008 within the context of a subsidiary operation. • guarantee the maintenance of air sovereignty, if necessary in cooperation with Switzerland‘s neighbouring states.

Conclusion • EURO 08 is to be a celebration and not a stronghold. • The armed forces will contribute considerably. • The armed forces are a capable partner within the Swiss national security network. • The Swiss armed forces provide their services on a subsidiary basis. The civilian authorities are responsible for the conduct of operations. • The cooperation between civilian and military authorities works.
