  2. General Class Information • Welcome – Why we are here? • Routines in P3 • Class Charter and Behaviour System • Snack and lunches – money to office or envelope with name • Communication - home arrangements - letters in book bags – please check!

  3. Promoting Positive Behaviour • School, Class and playground charters • Weather system – gold coins • Bubble time • Solution-focused approaches • Head teacher awards • Golden time

Literacy • The different learning styles of every child are met through these various active learning opportunities which allow them all to access the new curriculum. • Read, Write, Inc. – Holistic approach to learning and using sounds to read and write words, progressing to sentences. • Literacy Stations – Children working in groups – independent or with teacher. Children will move round the stations to learn spelling, handwriting, grammar and reading. • BIG WRITING – Whole school approach – uses vocabulary, connectives, openers and punctuation to develop writing skills. 1 writing focus session per week.

Numeracy • SEAL – resources • Children working on developing mental number work – sequencing, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division. • We shall continue to teach the various aspects of Maths through active and fun learning. • You can support your child at home by encouraging them to count in steps of 2, 3, 4 etc, both forwards and backwards

Keeping Myself Safe • KMS – Provides children with the knowledge and skills to keep themselves safe in a variety of situations and makes them aware that everyone has worries. • P3 programme called ‘Big Worries Little Worries.’ • Learning Intentions include: - Big worries and little worries - What to do if I have a big worry - People that can help me • SHARE – Living & Growing Education Programme Learning Intention:I understand where living things come from & how they grow, are nourished and develop. DVD discusses significant events in lives i.e. birthdays and changes that have occurred since they were babies.

  9. P.E P3 will have PE on a Wednesday and a Thursday. Please make sure: Children have gym shoes which fit them correctly and are in good condition. Your child does not wear any jewellery on these days, including small earrings. Your child has suitable PE Kit which is labelled with their name and class.

Personal Learning planning • Working together as partners is proven to improve your child's learning • From time to time this session you will be invited to contribute to your child's personal learning planning – reflecting on your child’s learning with your child and school staff and making new learning targets • Every child will build up a booklet which will be used between home and school to make sure we are all involved in the learning process • Thanks for your ongoing support
