Following the Manchester Arena Attack on 22nd May 2017, Greater Manchester Police led a strategic recovery effort to counter hate and division, engage with communities in a shared responsibility, and ensure the safety and unity of the 2.7 million population speaking over 200 languages. The impact on people, institutions, and social cohesion required a robust response from the Consequence Management Team, transitioning from major incidents to community recovery, focusing on all victims and families. Led by Chief Inspector Umer Khan and D Chief Exec Sara Todd, the aim is to stand against hate and intolerance, fostering a safer and stronger society through effective community engagement.
