South African Pesticides Initiative 2 • Seen as continuation of SAPIP 1 that was terminated in June 2008 • PPECB invited by DAFF to house Pesticide Initiative Project • Proposed name change to South African Integrated and Sustainable Pesticide Initiative (SAISPMP) • Focus will be on all key Importing Countries • Be driven as Programme rather than Project
Scope of SAISPMP • Contribute to Food Safety, Quality and Phytosanitary on Local and Export Market • Specific Focus on Emerging Farmers and Minor Crops • Information sharing • Interpretation and Alignment of MRL requirements • Capacity building and Technology Transfer • Increasing the amount farmers that are export ready
