Spectrometer Examples of existing or planned spectrometers of the types we may would like to have one: RITU (thanks to Juha Uusitalo) - 4 magnets (QDQQ), power consumption 120 kW at most - beam spot size not critical, 5 mm desirable MARA (thanks to Jan Saren) - configuration QQQEDMD, total power consumption 100 kW at most - beam spot size: 2 mm at most (dispersive plane) … critical! 3-4 mm (non-dispersive plane) EMMA (thanks to Barry Davids) - less than 200 kW if all elements are fully powered, e.g. pumps not included - 1 mm beam spot size … critical! No TOF, therefore micro structure not important High instantaneous rate is serious problem for all focal plane detectors Energy resolution of beam has not been discussed
