  2. Sein Leben • 1480 in Portugal als Sohn einer adeligen Familie geboren • mit 10 Jahre verlor er seine Eltern • unternahm die erste Weltumsegelung • gestorben 1521 auf den Philippinen

  3. Weltumsegelung • König Karl I. von Spanien stellt fünf Schiffe zur Verfügung • Magellan beginnt von Sevilla aus die Reise 1519 mit über 240 Mann • erreichte am 31. März 1520 den Hafen San Julián und überwintert dort (7 Monate)

  4. Weltumsegelung • März 1521: er erreicht die Philippinen (zu dieser Zeit sind noch 150 Seeleute am Leben) • April 1521: Magellan wird von Einheimischen getötet • September 1522: Schiff “Victoria” mit 18 Mann landet in Spanien • erste Weltumseglung: 2 Jahre, 11 Monate, 2 Wochen
