It’s A Fact Most of the literature we’ve been studying this year has been fiction, made up stories that didn’t really take place.

It’s A Fact Much of what you encounter in everyday life is non-fiction, factual information about real people, places, things, and events.

It’s A Fact With so much information out there, how do you make sense of it all? Where do you even start?

Try This Experiment • You have one minute to read each of the next two articles. • They cover the same material but present it using different methods. • One is written in a simple text format, while the other uses text features.

Science has demonstrated that drinking water increases the human metabolism. Additionally, it decreases hunger pangs and has been linked to a decrease in colon, breast and bladder cancers. At the same time, drinking water increases energy, focus, and memory. Coke, on the other hand, is said to remove grease from clothes, stains from toilet bowls, and rust from bumpers, batteries, and bolts. In some states, members of the highway patrol reportedly carry containers of Coke in their patrol cars to remove blood from the highway.

Graphic Aid Graphic Aid Visual tool such as a photograph, table, graph, or other illustration An 18th century map of St. Augustine shows the walled city, the fort guarding the harbor entrance, and the sand bars just outside the inlet.

Head or Heading Colorful Origins of the Samba Head or Heading Title that identifies the topic of the content that follows it The Samba originated in Brazil. It was and is danced as a festival dance during the street festivals and celebrations. First introduced in the U.S. in a Broadway play called "Street Carnival" in the late twenties. The festive style and mood of the dance has kept it alive and popular to this day. Samba is a fun dance that fits most of today's popular music.
