Objectives • You will, through the course of this lesson, learn about the different classifications of animals through the means of interactive learning through this PowerPoint. • At the end of this lesson you will be able to correctly identify the different classification characteristics of animals
Directions • Click on one of the following animals to learn more about their classification characteristics • After learning about all of the animal classifications; take the end of the lesson quiz.

Mammals • Have fur or hair • Have lungs and need air to breathe • Mammals that live on land have 4 legs, and ears that stick out • They give birth to live young • Mammal mothers nurse their young with milk • Are warm-blooded
Reptiles • Have scales • Have dry skin • Usually lay eggs, but sometimes give birth to live young • Have ear holes instead of ears • Have either 4 legs or no legs • Are cold-blooded
Birds • Have feathers and wings • Lay eggs • Have ear holes instead of ears • Warm-blooded
Amphibians • Live on land and water • Have webbed feet • Breathe with lungs and gills • Have moist, smooth, skin (no hair or fur) • Lay many eggs • Cold-blooded
Fish • Breathe underwater using gills, not lungs • Live in water • Have scales and fins • Lay many eggs • Cold-blooded
