What we do at Sand Point? • Framework for Culturally Responsive Teaching: Relationships, Rigor, Relevance, • K-5 SEL Curriculum Built by our staff with Monthly Themes using RULER Anchor Tools • Advisory First Monday of each Month • Assembly Last Friday of each Month led by student leaders • Hallway Gallery Walk of Student Work • Weekly SEL lessons • Aligned Transition Call and Response • Morning Meeting in every class everyday • Voice Level Meter • Hula Hoop Space • Family Charter Night • Morning Announcements daily led by student leaders • Squirrel Choice Award Lunches • Family support worker to help families • Weekly Newsletter • Art every week for one semester • Music class every week • Buddy Classrooms to build community across grade levels • Fall and Spring Dance Unit with dance teacher • Every Tuesday Family Check out in Library • 3 40 min PE classes each week • 3 recesses with a total of 40 min • Structured games at recess that are taught in PE • Students Led Component to Patent-Teacher Conferences • Tons of Community Events (Heritage Brunch, Earth Day, Family Bingo, Science Night, Student vs Staff Soccer Match, Spelling Bee, Field Day and more) • Tons of After-School Enrichment (Garden Club, Squirrels Rock Club , Stone Soup Theater Club, YMCA Clubs, YMCA Childcare • For 4/5 Students (Dancing Classrooms, Islandwood, Walk Around Math Model, Ukuleles, Instrumental Music and more) • For 1/2/3/ Students(Project Math, Music Extension, Individual Math Extension for Advanced Learners) • Multi-age classrooms • Differentiated Literacy Instruction with New Curriculum • Literacy Intervention Support and Math Intervention Support • Special Education Support • Support for English Language Learners
