The Ghana SHS Connectivity Project Purpose Increasing access to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education for students in Ghana by providing and supporting internet connectivity to Senior High Schools (SHS)
Who is involved? • Ministry of Education • Ghana Education Service • USAID • Vodafone • Global e-Schools and Communities Initiative (GESCI) • 400 Senior High Schools • 800 Teachers
Project Activities • Installation of internet services in 400 SHS school • Training of 800 SHS teachers • Development of a curriculum review framework for ICT Integration • Identification of ICT competency for Teachers in SHS in Ghana • Development of a Digital Content Evaluatuon Framework • Identification of digital resources for ICT use in MEIS in SHS schools • Project monitoring and evaluation • Training of 800 teachers • ICT Integration in SHS

Expected Project Outputs • Improved ICT infrastructure across 400 SHS • Installed internet connectivity hardware and software in SHS • 35 master trainers trained in ICT integration • 800 teachers trained in ICT integration skills in SHS • A digital content evaluation framework • Identified digital learning resources for SHS • Hands-on implementation manual for SHS on how to pedagogically integrate ICT and the internet in teaching and learning
Expected Outcomes • Raised awareness on requirements for ICT Integration in teaching and learning • Improved access to quality teaching and learning resources in Mathematics English and Integrated Sciencesubjects through the use of ICTs; • Improved teachers’ capacity (both contents and pedagogy) in teaching Mathematics English and Integrated Sciencesubjects through the use of ICTs; • Enhanced teachers’ professional development in Mathematics English and Integrated Science subjects through the use of ICTs; • Efficient management of the ICT infrastructure in the 400 SHS; • Increased classroom interaction in the teaching and learning process; • Increased students’ motivation and participation in learning Mathematics English and Integrated Sciencesubjects through the use of ICTs; • Reduced professional isolation among the teachers; • Increased use of ICTs in the preparation and presentation of lessons in the 400 SHS; and • Improved students’ performance in, Mathematics English and Integrated Science in the 400 secondary schools.
