  2. Air pollution: the contamination of the atmosphere by the introduction of pollutants from human & natural sources.

  3. Acid precipitation: rain, sleet, or snow that contains a high concentration of acids.

  4. When the atmosphere is contaminated by pollutants from human & natural sources, it is called air pollution.

  5. Carbon monoxide, dust, & smoke from forest fires that are put directly into the air are called primary pollutants.

  6. Ozone is a secondary pollutant.

  7. Vehicle exhaust is the major source of human-caused air pollution.

  8. When sulfur dioxide & nitrogen oxide are released into the air, they can cause acid precipitation.

  9. A rapid change in a body of water’s acidity is called acid shock.

  10. Ozone hole allows more UV radiation to reach Earth.

  11. Air pollution causes coughing, headaches, & lung cancer.

  12. Allowance Trading System limits the amount of pollution companies can release.

  13. Hybrid car uses both gasoline & electric power.
