  2. Goal: Educate all on the course selection process to select appropriate courses towards achieving each student’s high school and post-secondary goals.

  10. Dual Enrollment • Students can take college courses while in high school • 4 colleges that OAHS/OASD has dual enrollment agreements with: • Delaware County Community College (DCCC) • Goldey-Beacom College • Cecil College • Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences

  11. Requirements to Consider • Graduation Project is an OASD requirement for graduation. Get started now! • OAHS has many different pathways to consider to help all students prepare for life after high school.

  14. Scheduling for 2019-2020 Steps in the process: • HS Teachers have entered course recommendations for core subjects into PowerSchool. • HS Students enter course requests into PowerSchool. Guidance meets with individual students. • MS Teachers will enter course recommendations for core subjects into PowerSchool. • MS Students will enter course requests in PowerSchool. • Administration totals requests and builds master schedule trying to meet student needs and requests.

  15. What you MUST request: Current 8th Grade for 9th Grade year: 8.0 credits Must request: • English • Math • Science • Social Studies • Health and Lifetime Fitness • TCB (Taking Care of Business) and Seminar (or ATP Seminar)

  16. What you MUST request: Current 9th Grade for 10th Grade year: 8.0 credits Must request: • English • Math • Science • Social Studies • Health or Personal Computer Applications if you did not take it in 9th grade *Recommend an additional PE course

  17. What you MUST request: Current 10th Grade for 11th Grade year: 8.0 credits Must request: • English • Math • Science • Social Studies • Additional courses to prepare for post-secondary plans

What you SHOULD request: Students that plan to attend college: 4 years of English, Math, Science, and Social Studies at CP level or above At least 2 consecutive years of World Language Consider dual enrollment opportunities through DCCC, Cecil College, Goldey-Beacom College, PA School of Health Sciences, West Chester Univ., Thaddeus Stevens

  20. What you SHOULD request: Students that plan to attend trade or technical school: 4 years of English, Math, and Science 3 years of Social Studies Electives that will support your acceptance to school

  21. Applying to TCHS: • Current 9th, 10th, and 11th grades only • Students must complete the online application for TCHS by March 31 • Students must meet requirements to apply and to remain enrolled once accepted.

  22. TCHS Requirements Grades: Students must pass 3 of 4 core subjects (Math, English, Science, Social Studies) each year Attendance: Students may not miss more than 10 days per semester Discipline: Students that commit Level IV and V violations will be reviewed

Scheduling Events and TimelineCurrent HS Students • HS students have assembly on March 4th. • Course Selection Guide and other scheduling materials are posted on the HS webpage. • HS Students may begin to enter course requests and review teacher recommendations in PowerSchool on Monday, March 4th. • Deadline for course requests is Sunday, March 10th.

Scheduling Events and TimelineCurrent HS Students • Guidance will meet individually with students in Social Studies classes from March 11-22 to review course requests. • Course verification letter sent home by April 23rd. • Course verification letter must be signed by a parent and returned by April 30th. If this is NOT returned, your courses will be assigned and you may not get your requests.

Scheduling Events and TimelineCurrent 8th Grade Students • PG staff will make recommendations in PowerSchool for Math, English, Science, Social Studies, and Spanish. • HS team will meet with 8th grade students and teachers to explain process on Wednesday, March 13th. • Parent Informational meeting will be March 13th at Penn’s Grove Auditorium at 6:30pm. • PG students will enter course requests and in PowerSchool March 15-22. • HS Guidance Counselors will meet with students to review all course recommendations (April 1-5) • Course verification letter sent home in April 23rd. • Course verification letter must be signed by a parent and returned by April 30th. If this is NOT returned, your courses will be assigned and you may not get your requests.
