Ink Drawing

In order to shade in ink, there has to be a repetitive stroke of some kind and the distance between these strokes is what creates the variation of values. The following slides give the most common methods of shading in ink. Ink Drawing.

  1. In order to shade in ink, there has to be a repetitive stroke of some kind and the distance between these strokes is what creates the variation of values. The following slides give the most common methods of shading in ink. Ink Drawing

  2. A group of parallel lines that most often run in one direction only. This direction may vary in each particular area or artwork. Hatching

  3. Cross-Hatching A group of intersecting parallel lines. The direction of these lines may vary in each particular area or artwork.

  4. Using dots with varied distance and thickness to create shading. Stippling

  5. Using controlled scribble and zig zag marks to create variations of dark and light. Scribbling/Zig Zagging

  6. The following artworks are excellent examples of the various shading methods. These are the quality of work I expect from you on this assignment.

  7. *Must be in ink. You may choose the color/colors. *Minimum size= half sheet of paper (4 in. x 5 ½ in.) *Maximum size= the largest paper on hand *Image should take up your full sheet of paper *No tracing *Can sketch in pencil LIGHTLY first, then finish out in ink. All pencil marks erased away in the end. *Difficult level of drawing must be similar to examples shown in ppt. *I must approve any drawing you choose to make sure it is a difficult enough example Project Requirements
