  6. Test Taking Strategies

  7. Strategies for Taking Multiple Choice Tests • Read the question before you look at the answers. • Look at the possible choices so that you know the format of the answer. • Eliminate answers you know aren't right. • Read all the choices before choosing your answer. • Try to picture the situation when given a story problem. • Never leave an answer blank.

  8. Strategies (continued) • Don't keep on changing your answer. Usually your first choice is the right one, unless you misread the question. • In a question with an "All of the above" choice, if you see that at least two correct statements, then "All of the above" is probably the answer. • Estimation – Round the values and find a reasonable answer. • Eliminate the unreasonable answers. • Work backward. Plug in the answers and find the correct solution(s).

  9. Reading Questions Try picturing the situation. Sean is selecting an outfit from among 6 pairs of pants, 4 shirts, and 5 pairs of shoes. How many different outfits consisting of 1 pair of pants, 1 shirt, and 1 pair of shoes are possible. A. 15 B. 120 C. 3 D. 6
