Aims- Seminar 05 November 2013 • To develop a shared understanding of the Schools Improvement Partnership Programme • To provide an opportunity for the 2 ‘front runner’ partnerships to share their experiences to date in taking forward their projects • To support the partnerships in further developing their action plans for their work as part of the programme
Background • In March 2013, the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Mike Russell, announced a range of approaches to tackle the steadfast link between socio-economic deprivation and low educational attainment.

Schools Improvement Partnership Programme (SIPP) • Education Scotland is leading the development of this programme and managing its implementation • Steering group involving ADES, COSLA, AHDS, SLS, EIS and the Scottish Government to develop the rationale and detail of the programme • Support from university researchers • Across schools within and across EAs
SIPP - Key messages • Innovating to tackle educational inequality • Action research collaborative enquiry • Learning from each other, experimenting practice and monitoring and evaluating impacts • Supporting long-term collaboration, professional learning and capacity building • Sustainable improvements and raised attainment.
