The Periodic Table. Periods run across in rows. Periods correspond with energy levels. Groups run down in columns. Groups correspond with the number of electrons found in the outermost energy level. Some elements are gases at room temperature. Some elements are liquids at room temperature.

  4. Some elements are gases at room temperature

  5. Some elements are liquids at room temperature

  6. Metals are found on the LHS and Non-metals on the RHS METALS NON-METALS

  7. BUT . . . . . It’s not this simple

  8. The elements found between the metals and non-metals have properties similar to both. . . .

  9. We call these the SEMI-METALS METALS NON-METALS

  10. Group I is called the Alkali Metals

  11. Group II is called the Alkali Earth Metals

  12. The middle 10 groups are the transition metals

  13. Group VII are the Halogens

  14. Group VIII are the Noble Gases. They are also sometimes called Group 0
